Weather was actually pretty nice considering the hot summer we have had this year.

If one measures success by dollars raised to help find a cure for PKD, then we had a very successful walk. As of today 11/26/2011, $86,864 has been raised and we are still counting -- which means we can all still contribute. Click "San Antonio Walk Huge Success" above and see all the details! The $86,864 represents 116% of our goal. It also represents many hours of planning and execution by many volunteers. Suzanne Ruff tells such an inspiring story about her family's experience with such a devastating illness and how she has learned to cope with it. My family, too, suffers from PKD, and I learned so much more about it through this book. It will make you laugh and cry as well as teach you the importance of organ donation. Suzanne is open and honest about her own struggles with her decision of being a living donor for her sister, but then tells of how the decision brought them closer as sisters and friends. Everyone will love this book, but you will especially love it if your family has been touched by the need for an organ transplant of any kind. What a gift of life Suzanne gave her sister, and readers are lucky that she put her story on paper in this wonderful book!"

In planning for our September 24th walk, the planning committee would like to have some sort of entertainment for the walkers at the mid point for the 5K. We will have a water station there and we thought it would be neat to have some sort of entertainment to encourage the walkers and just have a little fun activity for them. We are good about ideas but need some help with execution. Anyone out there that would like to volunteer as "entertainers" or know of someone that would like to volunteer their time for us that morning? If so, please leave us a comment here and we will follow up.
